Parnell, Frances87, a resident of Seminary Manor in Galesburg, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
She was born January 9, 1926 in Kelly Township in Warren County, Ill., the daughter of Biddle Valentine Watson and Rhea Hortense Mills Watson. She married David Ellison Parnell on April 7, 1944, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne McCraw (husband, Robert) of Columbia, S.C.; two grandsons, Jason Gary (Karen Peters VanEssen) Hartwig of Los Angeles, Calif. and Jared Michael Hartwig (Ariel) of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Helen W. Howard of Coos Bay, Ore.; and three nieces.
Frances graduated from London Mills Community High School, after which time she moved to Galesburg, initially working as a secretary to the Dean of Students at Knox College. After staying at home for a few years raising her daughter, she was employed at Willis Steel Corporation as bookkeeper, where she worked for over 30 years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. Her great passion was playing bridge and socializing with her many friends.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. David Esche will officiate.
