Mary J. “Jeannie” Adams, 92, of Manteno, passed away Sunday (Jan. 10, 2016) at her home. She was born July 7, 1923, in Cullom, the daughter of Andrew F. and Ethel M. Drendel Koerner. Jeannie married Harold W. Adams on Aug. 28, 1945, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1988. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James R. Adams and Paula, of Bradley; two daughters and one son-in-law, Alice Carstens Smith and Ronald, of Eight Mile, Ala., and Cheri Adams, of Manteno. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, John and Kathryn Koerner, of Belmont, Calif.; her longtime friend and companion, Ivan Petersen, of Ashkum; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Victoria Henerberg Harper; and three brothers, Donald, Robert and Vernon Koerner. Mary was a former employee of the Kankakee Foundry for 24 years, and Kankakee Canteen for 10 years. She enjoyed her Bonnie Belles of Harmony for more than 29 years. She spent winters in Bonita Springs, Fla., and was a longtime member of River Valley Christian Fellowship Church. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. An additional time for visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. funeral services at River Valley Christian Fellowship Church, Bourbonnais, with the Rev. Derick Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Aroma Township. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
