Larry George Hoots, 71, of Winchester passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at his residence. He was born, Nov. 22, 1946, in Bloomfield, the son of George Clifford and Edith Alice McDade Hoots. Larry married Delores Marie Thompson, July 12, 1970, in Jacksonville.
Surviving is his wife, Delores Hoots of Winchester; sons, Darren (Ruby) Hoots and Jeremy Hoots, both of Winchester; grandchildren, Clint, Morgan, Abigail and Autumn; brothers, Clifford (Lynn) Hoots of Bluffs, Albert (Linda) Hoots of Bluffs, Robert Hoots of Winchester and Donald (Tammy) Hoots of Winchester; and sister-in-law, Carol Hoots of Bluffs. He was preceded in death by brother, Ronald Hoots.
Larry was a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church and attended the Winchester Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran, who served on the USS Kitty Hawk. Larry was an avid farmer who loved his family and making burgoo. He was on the Scott County 4-H Fair board, where at one time, he served as president. Fair time was special for Larry, he attended the fair for 38 years.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Bloomfield Baptist and the Winchester Methodist Church.
