Sharon Kay Moore

Sharon Kay Moore, 75, of Petersburg, IL passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Memorial Hospice at Heritage in Springfield, IL. She was born on February 10, 1943 in Centralia, IL the daughter of Carrel and Joan (Schelot) Diel. She married Bob Ray Moore on December 18, 1960 at Fouts Christian Church in Centralia, IL and he survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles (June) Diel. She is survived by two daughters Darla Heyen (Dwaine) of Oakford, IL and Deanna Clark (Clint) of Athens, IL. Three granddaughters: Haley Heyen of Springfield, IL and McKenna and McKayla Clark of Athens, IL. Two step grandsons Eric Heyen of Charlotte NC and Alex Heyen (Jessica) of Mt. Pulaski, IL. One sister Shirley Tuttle (King, deceased) of Greenview, IL. Five brothers: Bill Diel of Taylorville, IL, Carrel Diel (Mary) of Centralia, IL, Fred Diel (Janet) of Mayfield, KY, Gary Diel (Linda) of Woodlawn, IL, and Rodney Diel (Terrie) of Mt. Vernon, IL. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She worked at Dairy Queen in Petersburg for 6 years. Sharon, being a farm girl all her life, always enjoyed working alongside of Bob on the farm. She and Bob also worked as greeters at Meijer for almost 15 years.
Sharon was an active member of the Atterberry Community Baptist Church. She always enjoyed decorating the church for all the holidays and helping out anywhere she could at church. She loved traveling with New Jerusalem Singers, helping them out for the last nine years.
There will be a memorial gathering for Sharon on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 9 to 11 am at the Atterberry Community Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Petersburg. Pastor Ray Spellbrink will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to Atterberry Community Baptist Church.
