William “Bill” K. Honn, 70, of Chandlerville, IL, passed away at his home on Monday, August 27, 2018, with his loving family at his side. He was born on April 19, 1948 to William and Rosemary (Reed) Honn and was later raised by his mother and step-father Donald Meyer. He married Linda (husband Pat) Dobson and later divorced but remained good friends.
Bill is survived by his three children; Ryan (Danielle) Honn of Petersburg, Amanda (Mo) Witherell of Chandlerville, and Brandon Honn of Petersburg; and seven grandchildren, Alayna Honn, Justin Honn, Gage Honn, Kayla Witherell, Walker Witherell, Vance Witherell, and Logan Witherell. He is also survived by two brothers; Donny (Tori) Meyer of Havelock, NC, and Tony (Debbie) Meyer of Lincoln, IL.
Bill was preceded in death by his patents, step-father, and a brother, Mike Honn.
Bill was of the Lutheran faith. He served our grateful nation as a member of the Army. He was a collector of guns, military memorabilia, and many other odds and ins. He also loved animals, especially reptiles and spiders. He worked as a union painter and was a member of the Painters Local 90 of Springfield, IL. He also worked for Charlie Hubbard as a painter for 14 years.
A visitation for Bill will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, IL, with a service immediately following at 11:30 am with Pastor Jeffrey Gross officiating. Burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors in Springfield, IL, following the service at 1 pm.
Memorials in Bill’s name may be left to the Petersburg VFW Post 6871.
