Jeanette Eleanor (Jess) Watson, formerly of Hanover, Illinois entered eternal life on September 3, 2018. She was a resident of Harbor Crest Home in Fulton, Illinois.
Jeanette was born on January 7, 1934 to Louis F. Jess and Minnie (Moltmann) Jess in Bellevue, Iowa. She was the youngest of 11 children.
Jeanette was valedictorian of the Bellevue High School Class of 1951 and immediately began working at the Bellevue State Bank. She married John (Jack) Stutzman of Hanover on November 23, 1955. Two children were born to that union, Sara (Bill) Clendenen of Stockton, Illinois and Laura (Thomas) Talley of Thomson, Illinois. Jack passed away on April 11, 1981. Jeanette was remarried on November 17, 1982 to Edward “Mick” Watson of Hanover. Mick and Jeanette enjoyed four wonderful years together until he passed away on December 16, 1986.
Jeanette enjoyed her work as a librarian at the Hanover Township Library, she later went back to the banking business at the Hanover State Bank. She retired in 1994.
Jeanette enjoyed reading, music, travel and working with and for people. She enjoyed getting together with family and friends whenever she could. She was an “Ace” at the game of Scrabble and loved to play Bingo at many different local area locations. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and gave without exception to those in need. Anyone who touched her life and became a part of it, was loved unconditionally. She had an amazing sharp mind and a wonderfully wicked sense of humor.
She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses; one brother, Kenneth (Charlotte) Jess of West Des Moines, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; both spouses; 7 brothers; 2 sisters; twin infant granddaughters and infant son.
She is at peace but will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
There will be a private family and friends service in the fall.
