Danny Ray Williams, 82, of West Frankfort passed away at 9:44 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 in the Herrin Hospital. He was born September 1, 1936 in Williamson County, Illinois to Henry and Arey (Avery) Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Williams; 3 sons, T. Scott (Kathy) Williams, Kyle Williams and Jon Williams and a daughter, Jennifer (Terry) Gossett; 3 step sons, David (Pat) Wilson, Steve (Renee) Wilson and Grant (Robin) Wilson; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; a bother, Ted (Judy) Williams and a brother-in-law, Jack Childers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wanda Childers.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA and the Gospel Mission Church in Johnston City. He loved his family and grandchildren, enjoyed woodworking and his specialty was making grandfather clocks.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 in the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Jerry Lingle and Larry Marrs officiating. Burial will be in the Boner Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be after 12:00 p.m. Noon Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
