THATCHER, William May 31, 1934 – Mar 4, 2019

William James Thatcher, 84, of Holly Hill, Fla., passed away peacefully the afternoon of March 4, 2019, at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Bill was born May 31, 1934 in Danville, Ill., the son of John Bert and Nina Hodges Thatcher.
He married the love of his life, Kathryn Joy Shotts on June 2, 1953. She preceded him in death Nov. 2, 2011.
Bill and Joy were team drivers for many years together, hauling Chuckles candy from Danville to Boston.
Bill loved playing hide-and-seek with his children and grandchildren. He loved travelling out west with Joy and visiting ghost towns. He also enjoyed watching dirt track racing. Before moving to Florida in 2010, he was a member of Southside Nazarene Church in Tilton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Earl and Ben.
Bill is survived by his sisters, Bertha Thomas of Catlin, Beulah Beaver of Clarks Hill, Ind., and Eva of Montana. Bill is survived by a son, Joe, of Fairmount; and daughters Jane Broendel (John Miller) of Washington, D.C., and Kathie (Terry) Pichon of Holly Hill, Fla.; grandchildren Chad and Matt Thatcher, Katie Broendel (Shawn) , Reid (Nora) Broendel, Nikki (Brian) Rider; a special great-grandson, Trent; and great-granddaughters, Brittney, Carli and Ellie; as well as several loved nieces and nephews.
Bill was especially fond of his son-in-law Terry, who provided much care and laughter over the years.
