Elaine M. Olsen, 88, of Chatham died at 5:10 am, Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 4, 1930 in Chicago, to Bernard and Margaret (Kane) McNamara. She married William F. Olsen on March 31, 1951 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in December 2016. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Olsen, and three siblings.

Prior to living in Chatham, Elaine was a resident of Port Charlotte, FL and Oak Lawn, IL. She was a homemaker and was happiest when spending time with family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a witty one-liner. Elaine was a crossword puzzle aficionado and avid roller skater for much of her life. Other favorite activities included bird watching, star gazing, playing golf, walking, playing computer games, and being involved in prayer and Bible study groups. She also enjoyed visiting Chicago, particularly the Art Institute, whenever possible.

Elaine is survived by one daughter, Janice Olsen (William Bucci) of Springfield; one son, William A. Olsen of Milwaukee, OR; three grandchildren, Joyce Olsen (Bryan Guzman) of Chicago, William O. (Kelly) Bucci of Springfield, and Amelia Olsen of Oak Lawn; one great-granddaughter, Aria Bucci; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Gathering: 10-11 am, Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Christ the King Church.

Memorial Mass: 11 am, Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Christ the King Church with Reverend Joe Ring officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
