Doris C. McCormick died June 6, 2020, age 98. “Dottie” was born April 28,1922 to Raymond Cook and Clara (Talbot) of Chicago; predeceased by brother William (Bud). She was a resident of Beacon Hill’s independent senior living in Lombard, IL when a sudden health shift (non covid-19) occurred a few days prior to her death.
Dottie was loving mother of Bruce (Becky), Pam (Tim Kochems); awesome Grandma of Kayla, Jordan (Kim Resnick), Phil (Maria Knauss); proud Great-grandmother of Emilia and August.
She was a role model to nieces and nephews, loyal friend of many. An elementary school teacher early in her life, active member in church for decades, a volunteer often, she was always eager to help others, giving of her time, resources, or listening ear.
In addition to caring deeply for others, she often expressed gratitude, even through her brief hospitalization. Dottie lived her values with positivity and kindness. Her “one-liners” and spunk elicited laughs and smiles. To the end, this spirited and feisty woman was still showing us size doesn’t matter to live fully and make a difference.
Private services entrusted to Brust Funeral Home, Lombard, IL
A celebration of Dottie’s life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her name may be given to First Congregational Church of LaGrange, 100 6th Ave, La Grange, IL 60525
