Mrs. Margaret (Curry) Bednarik, 91, of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home, Saturday evening, July 21, 2012, with her loving children at her bedside. Born November 2, 1920, in Strasburg, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Paul and Ethel (Boyd) Curry. She was educated in Central Illinois Schools and went on to graduate from the University of Illinois with a B.S. degree in 1941, and a M.S. degree in 1945. In 1945, she married Dalton Bednarik, who preceded her in death in 1964. Margaret was a member of Delta Kappa Pi and Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, education honoraries. She taught Home Economics at Morris Community High School for many years, retiring as Dean of Students and teacher in 1981. She also taught for a short time at St. Angela’s Academy in Morris, Illinois. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Morris, Martha Circle of United Methodist Women, and the MD Chapter of the PEO Sisterhood. She served as a volunteer for “We Care”, coordinator of mobile meals for the Church and Morris Hospital Auxiliary. She was a long time member of the Illinois Rural Carrier Auxiliary and Grundy County Retired Teachers. She especially enjoyed reading, cooking, and being with her family. Surviving are her four children, Edward (Socorro) Bednarik of Bluffton, SC, Beth (Mike) Myers of Butternut, WI, Thomas (Marsha) Bednarik, and John (Sandy) Bednarik both of Morris, IL.; nine grandchildren, Frankie (Susan) Mylott of NC, Jennifer (Stephen) Pierce of AR, Becky (Jay) Cryder of AZ, David (Amelia) Myers of CO, Andy (Farah) Myers of Chicago, IL, Thomas Bednarik of Westchester, IL, Katie Bednarik of Tampa, FL, Stephanie (Dominic) Messina of Morris, and Patrick (Betty) Bednarik of Yorkville, IL.; seven great-grandchildren, Marisa Mylott, Jacob Cryder, Morgan Cryder, Hunter Pierce, Sarah Pierce, Mackenzie Messina and Samir Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and one great grandson Justin Mylott. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Morris, Illinois, with Pastor Scott McClellan officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the U. C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home LTD., 301 W. Washington St., Morris, Illinois. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Margaret’s name to the Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice or the First United Methodist Church.
